Outlets at the Border

Project Summary

Located adjacent to the busiest Land Port of Entry in the Western Hemisphere, the Outlets at the Border project is comprised of 140,000 square feet of retail space on approximately 9 acres. Major tenants include San Diego’s largest H&M store and only Armani Exchange Outlet.

Since the southern boundary of the project is the international border, coordination with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection was required during design and construction. In addition, the project dedicated land for the intermodal Virginia Avenue Transit Center which is part of the San Ysidro Land Port of Entry modernization. Coordination with the City of San Diego and the U.S. General Services Administration were required for this common pedestrian connection between the transit center and the Outlets at the Border project.

Lastly, significant off-site traffic mitigation improvements were required to be designed and permitted through the City of San Diego and Caltrans to help alleviate congestion in this important economic corridor.
